Random Project Roundup – 3/24/13

Well, the weekend’s almost over, and I did tell myself I’d be writing a blog post this weekend – since nothing exceedingly nerdy happened this week, I’m going to do a roundup of the projects I’ve been working on recently!  I’ve got three that I’ve been working on over the past week, and here they are.

The Schweet Cowl

2013-03-24 22.03.45This shawl earned its name from the little colored speckles in the yarn – it bears a bit of a resemblance to Vanellope Von Schweets’ hair!  I started working on this on the flight to San Francisco a few weeks ago, and have been working on it in classes since I got home.  It’s getting pretty long – once it’s finished, I’ll sew it up, and then it loops double for wearing.  (It’s the Holy Cannoli pattern, on Ravelry.)

The True Love shawl

2013-03-24 22.06.20Here’s another find from Ravelry – this shawl was the subject of a Downton Abbey themed knit-a-long!  (Pattern is here, for those curious.)  This one has been easy to do – and has come out looking incredibly intricate and beautiful!  I’m about three quarters of the way done with it – I can’t wait to finish it, and wear it!

Cheerio!

2013-03-24 22.07.58This is a pillow-in-progress that I’m making for a friend of mine, Chris.  I found it on Urban Threads, as part of their steampunk-themed sale.  It’s not coming out quite as I’d hoped – the pattern shifted while I was doing the iron-on transfer process, and there are some spots where the pattern lines are messed up or too wide to be covered by the thread.  It’s still been fun to make, and hopefully it’ll come out alright.  The second piece of fabric, the diamond patterned one on the lower right, is some flannel I’ll be using for the back.

… Toothless?

2013-03-24 22.09.21This guy might look familiar to long-time followers of my blog – it’s the three foot long Toothless, with the epic wingspan!  Toothless is back under my care again, and I was never quite happy with how his eyes looked (check out how he looked before here) – so I gave him some new ones.  These were done using the same template I used for the crocheted version of Toothless I made over winter break, just scaled up to match this much bigger dragon – and he looks so much better with these eyes.  I am so much happier with how he looks now!)

And that’s what I’ve been up to in the crafting world this week!
